I don’t know if I’d put the blame completely on Nancy, because I think that it’s kind of a two-way street thing. Usually, they always resolve it, but in my opinion it’s not a very good relationship. I think this might’ve stated in Captive Curse where they started having fights of Nancy forgetting things like their anniversary or things they had planned prior to a case (I think this also happened in Sea of Darkness). So Nancy could be unaware of Frank’s crush, but Ned sees it and doesn’t like it (which causes more tension in the relationship).Īlso in a lot of the newer games, there’s tension between Ned and Nancy with their relationship.

Plus there was that whole thing in MID (I think, correct me if I’m wrong) where the Hardy Boys came and Ned was super unhappy of Frank being there. To me I definitely saw it before The Deadly Device, but that’s when it became obvious. I don’t think it’s ever said anywhere in the game of Frank having a thing for Nancy, but it’s heavily implied.
I have not read many of the books or seen the TV shows- so I am just merely speaking from playing the games.
